1902 17       The Wyoming Coal Co. has sunk a shft north of Wyoming in Stark county, and are equipping it with good machinery and appliances. A branch road about three-fourths of a mile in length will be built to connect the mine withthe C., B. & Q. R. R., and coal will probably be ready for shipment in the fall and winter of 1902.

1903 18 New Mines.
The Wyoming Coal company opened one of the new mines; it is located on the line of the C., B. & Q. R. R. north of Wyoming, Stark county, and began operations in October, 1902. The shaft is 124 feet deep, the seam is No. 6 of the Illinois section, and contains, in great profusion, the "clay-slips," "horseback" and other irregularities usually to be found in that seam. The machinery, including the ventilating fan, is new and of modern construction. However, the irregularities in the coal seam mentioned, make it very improbable that the mine will be a large producer.
